Baby Root Canals in Cibolo, TX

Root canals are done to remove tissue from inside a tooth, treat tooth infections, and restore teeth back to health. They have a reputation for being scary and painful treatments, but thanks to modern medicine and our friendly and compassionate team, our baby root canal treatments are nothing to be scared of. If you believe your child may need a root canal or another restorative dental service, please contact our office, and we’ll be happy to assist.

How Will I Know If My Child Needs a Baby Root Canal?

It may not be obvious to you or your child that a root canal or another restorative service needs to be performed, which is why routine dental exams are important for diagnosing and treating dental issues. If your child has complained of tooth or gum pain or sudden tooth sensitivity, or you notice that one or more of their teeth look discolored, that can be a sign that a root canal is necessary. Other symptoms can include swollen or tender gums or an unusual bump that develops on the gums.

Are Baby Root Canals Safe?

Root canal treatments are safe and effective services for treating tooth infections and restoring teeth. The only alternative to a root canal is removing the tooth entirely, and we try to reserve dental extractions for cases in which there are no better alternatives. If your child is apprehensive about their procedure, our office also offers dental sedation services, which can help them feel more relaxed and help them sit still during their treatment. Once their root canal is complete, a durable dental crown will be placed to protect and support the tooth.

What is Aftercare Like For a Baby Root Canal?

Your child will likely feel a little worn out post-treatment, so we recommend returning straight home and not making any plans for the remainder of the day. They will want to stick to soft foods that are easy to chew, like apple sauce, oatmeal, and yogurt, to put as little pressure on their teeth as possible. After a few days, things should be almost completely back to normal, although avoiding crunchy foods and chewing with the other side of their mouth for a little while longer is advisable and may be more comfortable for them.
